I'd quote every post trying to discredit Katy's impact in Australia, but it's really not worth it.
It's 2016. Album sales aren't the be all and end all. It takes a hell of a lot more starpower to move more singles continuously than it does to sell an album.
Katy has sold approx. 6 million records (singles + albums) in Australia. Taylor has sold approx. 5 million records. That's a pretty big margin. It pays to look at the bigger picture, and not just one individual aspect (album sales) because it suits you.
