Unfortunately no. That's 100k votes (50k in actuality) across several states that have to flip to Hillary's side. It's a lot to ask for. Even in 2016.

If things were to flip to that degree, it'd have to come at the high cost of an actually rigged or hacked voting setup. The implications of which, for one, are pretty frightening. But is also less than likely to have happened.

Not actively speaking against the findings of Russia tampering with our election in hackings leading up to Election Day. That was a HUGE ****ing deal and Obama barely addressed it. Further, in his congressional voting record, he would often argue the progressive side of an issue but then not vote on the issue as Senator. I could keep going, but Obama has often been more hesitant to call things as they are. It may be because of him wanting to avoid setting a stereotype of a black politician, but I also think some of it is just in his nature.

As I said in this thread earlier, his "cool" and "thoughtfulness" probably hindered his legacy for the near future (only decades will truly reveal how we look back at him). And he probably cost us progress and a clear majority for a decade. Hopefully not a generation. We still have time to get it right.

the thing is, Obama basically comes from another era of politics: in his mind, strong policy and bipartisan cooperation will result in programs that benefit the American people. and the Republicans took every concession he gave them and in return they obstructed and filibustered every law he tried to enact (there were more filibusters on record in Obama's 2 terms as president than for any other 2 term president) and then they turned around and blamed him for every one of our country's problems and said he was doing nothing to help the American people. then when Obama used his only other option - the executive order - to put in place the programs that he wanted, the Republicans criticized him constantly on Fox News for using so many executive orders that he was interfering with checks and balances. He let the Republicans have everything they wanted after they shut the government down over the debt ceiling and he let them get away with their completely unconstitutional, unprecedented obstruction of his right to appoint a Supreme Court justice. He could have filled the vacancy in the lame duck session (temporarily, albeit) but he chose not to and we're going to get another gay-hating, black-hating, woman-hating Scalia who will probably have at least 40 years on the Supreme Court. that is why Obama is a 😺

There was nothing he could do. We tried, but Congress can deny if they wanted to. Hillary talked about it in all three debates. The argument failed with the American people. There was this sense that Hillary would win though so it would be all fine.

The issue I have is not that he couldn't get passed obstruction. My problem is that he should've never allowed himself to be put in that predicament. How could you possibly lose Congress after a Democratic wave 2 years prior.

Well Bill started a democratic wave and he lost it 4 years later but then again it took the House Banking scandal, Post-officegate and Whitewater. The way Obama lost congress will always be weird. That was one of his main attacks against Hillary in the primaries (That she'd cost Dems the congress if elected)

The difference is uncanny. Even with all of Bill's mistakes, not having a Democratic Congress for 6 of his 8 years, he still managed to keep the margin very close. And he was truly the bipartisan King with Queen HRC by his side.

Obama faced similar circumstances, but he had us at historic lows in Congress and couldn't be the bipartisan chief he needed to be to salvage the bleeding. And Bill actually had a legitimate argument to say "look my policies work." Obama tried but the wages simply wasn't on his side. The debt and deficit continued to rise.

That's not true. That's all they ever talked about, minus the emails. People just didn't care or stopped after it was clear Trump wasn't going to budge.
