This isn't a country, it's a pop forum, hunty. Speech is censored, regulated & supervised so it meets certain guidelines and standards that are coherent with the community. No, that isn't "tyranny" and the equivalency you made is embarrassing.
Cuban-Americans have been nearly evenly split, by the way; not all of them are conservatives, and even the ones who are have their reasons of escaping a communist regime that destroyed their lives, businesses, houses, families, etc. -- It only makes sense that they tilt to cast their ballots for whoever proposes the most capitalist-friendly policies.
Shame on you for admittedly showing no empathy towards a slice of society that has suffered so much in the past, just because their political ideology doesn't always match yours.
I am disgusted.

Yes... but its not a place that censors political opinion.
Castro has been called 'a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades' by Trump. An '“an evil, murderous dictator' by Rubio. A 'brutal Communist dictator' by Ted Cruz.
Yet, he's been called a:
'remarkable leader' by Justin Trudeau, with 'tremendous dedication and love [for] the Cuban people'.
An ' iconic personality of the 20th century. who was a 'great friend' by the Prime Minister of India.
A 'giant among global leaders whose view was not only one of freedom for his people but for all of the oppressed and excluded peoples on the planet' by the President of Ireland.
A 'a great man of our time' by the President of China.
A ' 'champion of social justice'' by the leader of the UK Labour Party.
Are all these people bad and uneducated on Castro? Would you ban them from ATRL?

Actually, that's not true. Many political opinions, Nazi/Hitler praise for example, would most likely be censored and prohibited throughout the forum. The observations made earlier simply highlighted how sensitive the topic is considering the large negative impact it had/still has on people's lives, with multiple motions as to how it could be treated (ask them to stop, threadban them, etc.) -- it's not that big of a deal, and it's certainly not "tyranny" like that person implied.

They're not uneducated and we've admitted that he's done some good things.

??? Puerto Rico is free to pick whether it wants to leave the USA Stop acting like we're forcibly being controlled by the USA against our will.

The #edgy people trying to bring up the "good" things Castro had done during his lifetime need to be threadbanned or directly told to stop. This is a very sensitive topic, particularly to many Cuban exiles and their families/friends.
People lost their lives, homes, businesses, friends and family members, only for someone to barge in with "some human rights violations *but* (...)"
Enough.

Not yet though! He needs to spend some decades behind bars first!

I don't care if you don't like him. I don't care if some Cuban-Americans don't like him. It doesn't give you the right to dictate what should or shouldn't be said here.

Right.
Its sad so many people would prefer to silence things in the name of offensiveness, rather than combat them through debate or discussion. Its a big problem with the left. In the UK, a lot of universities now can't invite people who are deemed 'extremists': https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-speech-rhodes
You never change someone's opinion by silencing them or punishing them. That only makes it worse.

They're both horrible. But if someone were to say something along the lines of "yea trump is a bigot but look at some the positive things he's done: ____", I'm sure you'd drag them to hell. I know I would.

The Democrats have done more than enough, they are the ones trying to end this crippling embargo, the real reason for the suffering in the country. If Cuban-Americans really cared about Cuba, they would support it too. But instead they prefer to hold on to decades long grudges while they live the good life in the US and Cubans suffer.
I don't know your family and you don't know me either so let's try to respect each other. I never said I supported the killings.

When you defy every president, Democrat or Republican, from the 1950s to the 2010s, then yes that is a reason to hate him. It means he has no respect for democracy or America.
Americans, who are very patriotic, are happy for this reason.
