I'm sorry. but this is such a poor comparison.
Homosexuality doesn't oppress anyone while religion has been responsible for the oppression of so many. Many LGBT+ people (including myself) have a great deal of pent up,
rational frustration at religious institutions because of how we have been treated in them, where's the same can't be said for the homophobe exhibiting
irrational frustration at LGBT+ people who literally do not affect them in any way.
OT: A person's right to religious freedom should be respected, yes... So long as it doesn't impede upon the rights of others to be free from their beliefs (particularly in regards to the government).
It also (in my opinion) doesn't justify the right to say abrasive things towards LGBT+ people. Homophobia under the guise of religion is still homophobia and if you're spouting such ideas then you aren't immune to being dragged by anyone who hears them.
