Michael Moore has said that in 2020 Dems should think about fielding a celebrity like Oprah.
It sounds stupid at first, but when you think about it, the Republicans have had Trump, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Reagan now. Have the Dems had anyone? It seems like it isn't the done thing for progressives.
Imagine if someone like Tom Hanks became political and ran in the future There are a lot of potential people who could do it, and would be popular at doing it.

They were all perceived as the more boring candidate. You can even go further back with Reagan beating Carter and Mondale. Trump doesn't have charisma in the same way Obama did, but he does carry an energy and did clearly capture a lot of people (obviously Clinton won the popular vote, but still)
It makes you think about much of a role personality politics is having on swaying independents. So maybe fielding someone like Oprah wouldn't be such a bad idea, really.

I watched this yesterday, she does come across much more natural and at ease doing speeches like these. I hope Hillary doesn't give up fighting for what she believes, but she does deserve some rest.
