Whaaat, no he wasn't? He up until this week had her in the top two for supporting--and before viola had her winning--for a LONG time.
La La Land's opening number is called "Another Day of Sun" and the new Beauty and the Beast song that already has some Oscar buzz for the 2018 ceremony is called "Days in the Sun."

Elle reminded me what i love about film so much
It was intense and thrilling and funny and exhausting. the acting was fantastic and the pacing was on point.
It was raw and real and moving and uncomfortable and shocking
