MSNBC did this piece the day after Mitt Romney lost the election in 2012.
In it, Joe Scarborough and company talk about how the Republican platform was no longer relevant to contemporary America. Keep in mind that the GOP platform (you all know what it is so I won't write an essay) hasn't changed in like...forever. To critics, the Republican Party needed to reinvent itself if it were to survive in a demographically diverse country.
Fast forward 4 years, and it's the Democrats' turn to become irrelevant in modern America. And the GOP hasn't really distanced itself from the "white privilege" rhetoric that Sarah Palin started during the Tea Party movement. Now the Dems are left in disarray.
What has happened in America that caused this shift in power?
