So what would have happened when Sanders hit a real opponent, someone who did not care about alienating the young college voters in his base? I have seen the opposition book assembled by Republicans for Sanders, and it was brutal. The Republicans would have torn him apart. And while Sanders supporters might delude themselves into believing that they could have defended him against all of this, there is a name for politicians who play defense all the time: losers.

Yep and the republicans are trying to display this "we're united" message but they're waiting for him to screw up, which he will, and will impeach him and replace him with Pence.

This whole thing is such a mess and not in a funny way, he's loading up his cabinet with people who literally have very different ideologies and beliefs, that's a disaster waiting to happen.

I think this is why the GOP finally embraced him.

When TrUMP approached Kasich with the plan of him as CEO while Kasich could determine all policy, that obviously got back to the GOP leaders. They seized the chance to put one of their own on the ticket to ensure they could push their various agendas forward. All Trump has to do is avoid illegal **** but even if he gets caught it's a win/win for them. They smoothly impeach someone from their own party, appear "reasonable" to the electorate for not protecting him, and President Pence emerges.

I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes the GOP's go-to plan. They did it with Bush so why not do it again? If their electorate continues to go against establishment candidates they'll just support a voter-backed buffoon with one of their own on the inside.

The only people who should be shamed for not voting are people in swing states. My vote in DC honestly wouldn't have mattered as much, seeing as how Hillary received 93% of the vote.
