Sis, they don't think subconscious racism or systematic racism exist.
You'll never be able to convince them that the way some of them obsess over Muslims yet ignore the way prominently white religions wreck havoc across the world (Evangelist missionaries are basically to blame for the anti-gay Christian terrorism arising in Uganda and parts of Africa) means something about their views.
They truly don't think they have any internalized bias against any race so it's okay to them to only focus on Muslims and ignore other religions despite the factual disproportional discussion focused on Muslims. If so many here claimed to hate all religion, I wish some of them would tackle Zionism and how radical Judaism is committing ethnic genocide right now. Old men in Israel are also stabbing gay people at pride parades in Israel, but y'know, totally not worth ever addressing.
Bring it up you twit. Why would I go in a thread about the muslim boy and talk about this. Start a thread or post it here. And again. Islam is not a race, there are white people who practice islam and even Jihad. Stop trying to make it about race just so you can sit on a high horse.
did they also had no problem with Judaism before WW2 tho?
it's only after Hitler's regime was defeated that christians started to treat jews better
okay so discrimination definitely changes w/the times
Race--another social construct--is defined differently throughout American history. External factors like the current Islamophobic propaganda spread by the media contribute to discrimination. If your TV screens are constantly telling you Muslims are bad you're going to start to believe them.
And it's especially true for people who haven't even met people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds

you're lying to yourself honey if you think we never talked or mentioned these things about other religions. Islam is the only religion that makes headlines daily, and it's not because racism. At least a gay pride can be held in Israel, what about Palestine? Or any muslim-majority country besides Turkey, who may I add had to cancel last 3 pride events because their goverment is becoming more radicalized. But go on, keep being an islamic apologist and blame it on how we're just hating on poor muslims because "racisme1"

Girl I'd be SHOCKED if anyone on this thread would approve Israel's doing, Israel literally embodies everything atheist are against, and is a living example how religion can be toxic to the World. We're bashing christians anti gays views as well, you're obsessed with finding people racist, in a thread where we're talking about religions too "White religions"

I agree, it's very often they tactlessly handle this issue. Just cuz many terrorists are muslims they make the false assumption that most Muslims are terrorists. But this wont happen to a person who knows dam well that most problems in middle east, including islamic extremism came as a result of ongoing western colonization.

so the media should stop reporting threats and terrorism they're doing in the name of islam, because "islamophobia", right? We should all live in a bubble we're the world is full of rainbows and unicorns.
Would you say the same thing if christians we're doing this and killing innocent LGBT people for example, and media should've just censored it so it doesn't "create discrimination against christians" who do these things because they follow their stupid book
I am wary of some of their critics because they indulge in some gross anti-Semitism though. But overall it's so awful what's going on there.
Yea but a case can also be made for their violent actions as well. Such as many in the muslim world calling for death of all Jews and the never ending persecution Jews have experienced. Like Sam Harris said, religious fundamentalism would not be a problem if there was no problem with the fundamentals of the religion. But what pushes people more towards fundamentalism is outside sources, this happened with muslims, this happened with jews, this happened with orthodox Christians in my country. Stable non threatening conditions help people move further and further away from religion.

Religion's main purpose in the last 500 years of civilization has been as a justification for imperialism and colonization, especially on the basis of race.
How can you TRULY critique religion if you refuse to recognize that those who went on to colonize the Americas used religion as part of their reasoning? That they believed it was the RELIGIOUS GOAL of the white man, under God, to claim the land of the Americas, "from sea to shining sea", and to "enslave the Godless Indian man and African man"?
Your critiques of religion come off as tone-deaf because they lack nuance outside of the way religion specifically impacts and discomforts you, as opposed to tackling the myriad of issues with religion as a societal institution, because some people don't want to tackle issues deemed "too SJW". You truly don't believe the way religious doctrine has been constructed has EVER been constructed on the basis of any society's construction of race, at all, in the history of it?

The way you put words into people's mouth never cease to amaze me
You're describing religion interpreted in a racist way. But you know it you said "justification". I just make the difference between what religion says (the inequality between woman and man for instance) and how the religion is used. I'm bashing the two.
I have the same race (which I love and embrace) as the vast majority of Muslims. I'm a proud Middle Eastern Arab who doesn't hate himself or anybody because they're a certain race. I refuse to be labeled as a "subconcious racist" for criticizig Islam moreso than Christianity (even tho I do both, so do most people in this thread).
I've criticized and bashed White Muslims, Arab Muslims, Black Muslims and others. I fully realize that there must be people out there who connect my race to Islam and only criticize Islam because they're racist - but I fully refuse the ridiculousness of anybody walking into an Athiest/Agnostic thread to label people (mostly progressive or moderate) who have justified and viable reasons to bash Islam as "subconsciously racist" and "alt-right".
Enough with these buzzwords. I appreciate anyone who fights for social justice and I'm more than happy to join you, but on REAL issues (yes, including racism against people who look like me - which isn't the case here). I'm so sick and tired of being labelled as something I know for a fact I am not, and I'm sure most people here are as well.
We're never gonna be able to get along if all we do is mischarecterize each other.

I'm not saying the media should stop reporting what is going on but their coverage is oftentimes unfair and sensationalized
Christians are indeed harassing LGBT in many parts of the world and we don't rush to paint with a brush all Christians for the actions of a few, do we? At least not here in America, where most people are not aware Evangelicals exported their fundamentalism to Africa where LGBT are being harassed.
I can agree that there are two assumed genders based on the two sexes. I just don't see gender as a social construct to the degree that we continue making up more to satisfy a niche. I think male and female gender roles were more of a tool for efficiency (i.e. cave women still played an active role in hunting, but they had to spare some resources and time for offspring). I just don't see the physiological basis for introducing any new genders, it reeks of narcissism.
