I was trying to convey how well it would have to perform to even have a good shot. Here's a scenario I think is a bit more realistic:
It needs 638,000 more sales to reach 3M. Because it should be falling down again after the movie/holiday boost is over with, we might expect a pace of 10k a week or so once we get into January. So say it sells 35k/week for the next 6 weeks (till the New Year), and then it sells around 10k/week for the next 2 months. It'd still be 348,000 short of the mark, and it would be selling less and less. And we also have to factor in that sales of current singles are down almost 40% year-over-year, and the decline is just becoming steeper. This situation is just like how Hello will never reach 5M and Closer will never reach 3M.
