no goverment is fully perfect and it needs to change as society progresses. I mostly prefer liberal and green parties rather than conservatives which are mostly based on anti-science and religion, well, at least the majority of people in such parties.

Things like electing Obama brings a larger sense of trust among minorities for white people. Then you elect Trump and the confusion, hurt, and defensiveness sets in again.
If white people can't actively show that they value the prosperity of minority groups, the groups will operate in a way to make sure you have no chance to forget it. Because they've seen what happens when they become background noise to the majority.

And this is exactly where the issue begins imo. There's a lot of white racist, but there's also a lot of white that are NOT. And you're creating of presumption of racism towards them for the sole reason that they're white, which is a thing a lot of them (not saying us because I'm not american, but I don't feel like I need to SHOW I'm not racist) will just reject.
You can't tell them to deal with an history they have NO part in, and do not identify with.

Ready for schools to redo the way they teach evolution and climate control. Can't wait to see the new textbooks.

I once supported a government like the chinese government but I understand more and more why democracy and freedom of speech is important. I don't support everything and I still think that many things in the west are too much and that we need a government that supports freedom but at the same time leads the society in one direction.

The downside of democracy is that we spend more time discussing stuff, then actually doing stuff and that people can vote for one thing and then the exact opposite 4 years later meaning the country never truly advance in one direction.
This all boils down to people not informing themselves, and not playing the "game" properly.
Democracy is the way to go, the citizens are to blame not the system imo.

Just a prediction based on what I've heard from fellow educators. Especially if the proposed secretary of education turns out to be true. The climate control comment was slightly off topic for this thread but I do fear about how we teach (or will no longer teach) evolution in science. It's all that k-12 teachers can talk about now.

Nowhere did I write racism. Even MLK made a point of calling out the silent majority. Who weren't expressly racist, but didn't do anything to alleviate it either. There's nothing commendable about not being racist, it's the expectation. Which is why I didn't talk about it in my post. What I'm talking about is showing an active interest in the prosperity of minorities.
Since white gays seem to understand better when it comes to sexual orientation: There's a lot of people who aren't homophobic either. Gay marriage is approved by 70% of the population. They just don't care what happens to gays or if gays get the right to marry or if its reversed. As a gay person, that doesn't give you confidence in the majority of straight people, whether only a small percent are explicitly homophobic or not.
Replace gay with minority and you begin to understand the inherent distrust of the power structure when you're on the receiving end of inequality. In the gay example, it's up to straight people to reach out and let it be known that they stand against any kind of bigotry or harm, political or otherwise, of LGBT people.

And what assurance do minorities have to believe that you aren't?
The same way gays are inherently suspicious of straight people who don't take a stand on homophobia or gay rights.
Basically, you can't expect minorities who have always been on the defensive to drop their guard before the people who've historically oppressed them do first.

You're right, you were not talking about racism I apologize.
I'm gay, and I have confidence in straight people until they prove me they're INDIVIDUALLY untrustworthy. I'm not going to impose a presumption on someone for the sole reason they're straight, and a lot of straights are notorious for not caring. No ma'am.
We clearly don't think the same way. I'm not going to assume every straight person who says nothing are not interested in me doing well as a gay person. I'd be exhausting, and probably not true. I'm not creating an oppression that's simply not there, trust me the ones who do want to oppress me as a gay person are being pretty vocal about it, so I'm not going to assume that on top of it the ones who say nothing think the same, nope. It wouldn't be fair, and again mentally exhausting.

Well I think it also has to do with the different ways homophobia and racism manifest as well on how we see our "opposite" (can't think of a better word but hopefully you'll understand).

And what assurance do minorities have to believe that I am ? Again you can't assume things based on the fact that I'm white.
For the 21 years I lived on this Earth I have never oppressed any minorities. I'd like to be taken for the person that I am instead of what I may represent historically, cause guess what ? I have no way of changing what has been done, so again it's unfair to me, how do I fix this ? I can't. Should I fix it too ? Am I more responsible for stuff that happened before I was even born than you are ? We both have nothing to do with that, why hold it against me ? Because I'm white ? Well it's unfair.
(I sound like a big victim, I'm aware that I'm not and while it's frustrating/upsetting to have this kind of stuff said to you I realize in the grand scheme of things it's nothing, I truly do, so please don't answer me with white tears and whatnot..)
