Oricon has a new digital album chart ! Suilen said it's for iTunes but I'm reading that it actually includes (iTunes, Mora, mu-mo, and Recochoku).

It's a Top 20 for the albums that got purchased as a whole (that also include the hi-res ones) and it's a collaboration with RIAJ. The plataforms included are iTunes, Recochoku, mora and mu-mo and 35 labels agreed to be part of it.
It will be counted normally like the other physical charts but this one will be weekly only.

I mean, we all knew that digital sales were small. Considering utada is #1 after almost two months with such a dramatic difference in sales with the rest of the top 10 shows that certain acts sell a huge amount more than others.

Which is also what was expected. The idol groups are physical heavy and acts like arashi don't even show up

Utada's SCV2 is still number 13 on the digital chart which tells me that a sizable portion of her fan base is digital and that has never really reflected on Oricon

I'm sure SCV2 had a cute amount of digital support that was just not reported back in 2010-2011. Which is a kii considering the haters were ready to say she was over

Weren't HS digital sales huge? But like everything was selling well digitally in 2007-2008. Then the industry failed to transition completely and it was all about physicals sales again and occasional RIAA certifications. The digital chart is a big step but they are 10 years late. The singles one would also be nice to have though.
