It's so weird here. NY is DEAD today. The streets were empty, there was almost no traffic this morning. Everybody in the stores just looks so disappointed and everything is too silent. I went to the bank before work and the teller told me to cheer up because she could see it on my face. All the patients at my office today all say they can't believe it. I know NY always swings left and is bound to lose some of the time, but nobody has ever seen anything like this. Today is a day totally without precedent in the history of this nation and it's not even over yet. A goddamn mess.

I NEVER talk to guys at the gym but this morning there were two of us in the changing room and we just struck up a conversation about how we couldn't believe it - and it was just strange how natural and consoling it was to talk to a stranger and feel the same way. (and then he got naked and showered, but he was old and not cute, though the body was okay considering he was like late 40s lol)

But yeah, it's 11am and all I've done today is read things online and try to come to terms.

It's silly how hard I feel struck as a New Zealander, but I guess as a gay guy dating a Japanese guy, it feels personal.

Not comparing my grief to that which is felt by American citizens, but it feels palpable even here in Canada―that sense of loss; that unsettling combination of fear and sorrow and anger and dread. Everyone is scared to find out what the broader effects and ramifications will be, and it hangs over us all like some dark cloud.

My heart hurts for all of you wonderful people in the US who deserve so much better than this horrible nightmare. Sending nothing but peace, love, and what tiny ember I can muster of HOPE for the future. xo

I low key don't know what they think a protest will do, as I mean the country voted - he's democratically elected - what's done is done, but it remains the darkest mark in USA history and I imagine I'd be there too if I lived there.

I would write a lengthy post about how I feel about the results of the election but right now I feel as if I've been stunned and I'm at a loss for words still. I'm angry, I'm sad, I'm scared..yeah... I will only promote love, peace and equality amongst the human race until the day I die. I would love to say hope as well, but I'd be lying because I currently feel very hopeless.
I am though so happy to see how M is rebelling during this disastrous time and not backing down but using her voice and her power, although limited, to try and change something--ANYthing.
