I think this just goes to show that you can never get too comfortable in any sort of election. Let's be honest, at least in the liberal-leaning parts of the US (which is usually the most densely populated regions), we all thought Hillary had it in the bag. I mean, Hollywood basically made Donald Trump into a caricature and parodied him for months basically making a complete mockery of him, the media was endlessly biased towards Hilary - and yet, he won, and it wasn't exactly a tight race either, he even managed to make three blue states red. The Democrats got WAY too comfortable. I mean, even Hilary herself posted a Twitter picture of herself saying "Happy birthday to this future President" just a few days ago. Obama made a comment when he was on "Mean Tweets" saying how he would "at least BE a president" in response to Donald Trump's tweet about him.
This is definitely the most shocking presidential election of all time. We're witnessing a huge moment in history whether we like it or not.
The whole world underestimated just how racist and backwards America actually is. I'm glad that the notion that they're a highly developed country will be put to death for good.
Don't count on 3rd party voters to express a single regret. Nobody who felt like they had anything to lose voted 3rd party. Just more heteronormative whites.
