This is what I'm SAYING
So many people in here were praising episodes 1-5 ish like "OMG this is REAL horror! Ryan got it BACK!" but it was all unimpressive, then this **** starts up and shows what's REALLY in store.
Meanwhile, your point about the ghosts seeming scary cuz they're distant is what I've been trying to say In the reenactment bits, they humanized the villains (ghosts + hillbillies); they showed them a lot, focused on them, gave them back story and depth, and it made them less scary, but here, we just see them as they do this twisted **** without an ounce of humanity or normality to them, so it's far more terrifying.

Yes, yes, yes!
I just can't imagine the real colonists doing the same things the re-enactors were doing like scaring off the Millers that generic way, Edward Mott's ghost helping them to get out of the land and etc.
When Audrey, Lee and Monet stumbled on the colonists there walking and chanting
Or this scene in the last episode (I almost pissed myself when I finally noticed them behind Rory)
I can't believe how well-written have been the last two episodes. All of those smart undertones are so not typical for AHS.
Audrey's face when she heard Monet saying Polks that they won't tell anyone JUST LIKE in the re-enactment.
Whew!
