At this point we should just hope she doesn't get any more below 60 reviews. Stop obsessing over competing with other artists, especially ones who are fresher and or don't get many reviews.

Glory being at 71 doesn't mean it's going to go down in history as being anywhere close to Born This Way or the fame monster. It just means nobody expected anything from britney but she delivered a solid piece of work, so she got good scores from the few critics who bothered to review her album.

I think it's fantastic there are so many different opinions on which songs are the worst and best on the album. I think as a whole the album is very strong and I'm diggin every track, even if I do like some a little bit less.

A-YO is very catchy and i have faith in it in actually being a hit in the U.S. I'm hoping for the best. The era started off as messy, and then I was worried, but now it's looking pretty good again. In fact, I think the reviews are such a diverse and opinionated mess that they should all be taken with a grain of salt. Some people wanted more pop, some suddenly loved ARTPOP, some loved her southern drawl, some are calling her inauthentic. It's all very typical criticism of her and it's a tiny bit foolish to not see all of that coming. They're coming for her but it works out for her much more than it did during ARTPOP. Many are pleasantly surprised, confused and processing it all. I think it really would have much better reviews if it was reviewed much later down the line when everyone got used to the record and didn't feel so frazzled but that is not how this works.

All in all from people I know personally, they have had great reactions to the sound on the record because they aren't thinking too hard. Is this her? Is this the REAL her? No one really thinks about that crap. That's all irrelevant when at the end of the day it's about the music.

Woah a 180-190k debut is pretty good stuff

Album sales (digital/physical/vinyl) have decreased a heap in recent years. In the US, ARTPOP debuted with 258k copies sold late 2013. In 2014, US album sales declined 11.2%. So if it was released Nov '14, you could hypothetically say that it'd have sold 229k copies. In 2015, US album sales declined again by 6.1%. Take that off the 2014-hypothetical-debut of 229k, and you get 215k. In 2016, [based off mid-year reports] US album sale have declined a whole 13.6%. Again, take that off the 2015-hypothetical-debut of 215k, and you get 185k. To reiterate, that's about where you could estimate ARTPOP would debut if she released it under the same circumstances this November. Let's spell it out:

2013 ARTPOP 258k
2014 ARTPOP 229k (subtracted by 11.2%, rate of aggregate album sales decline in that year)
2015 ARTPOP 215k (subtracted by 6.1%, rate of aggregate album sales decline in that year)
2016 ARTPOP 185k (subtracted by 13.6%, rate of aggregate album sales decline this year [based on Q1/2])

So this is debuting right where ARTPOP probably would have if it were released today, but with a fraction of the televised appearances or performances [she's literally had 2?], without a single on radio (ARTPOP had 2), minimal-to-no worldwide promo at all, and far less commercial material.

I just really want to see it snatch above a 70. We mightn't get a "finished" score (not that it ever freezes, I'm pretty sure someone could review The Fame now and change it) til the end of the year, with monthly publications probably yet to print, and year-end reports yet to come out.

He just seems to have treated her like a cash cow. Which is perfectly fine in a business sense - that's his job. But it's at the cost of Gaga's creativity. Demanding she chase the artist she once was, putting her down and talking about the charts too much. That's not what music is about.

People had the nerve to mock her for firing everyone but look how happy she is. She's been tormented by her past, never resolved the issues, coped with the dangers of Fame by covering herself in outfits. Trying to be as far from Stefani Germanotta as she could possibly be.

Stefani's story isn't exceptional. A lot of people likewise feel the same way and use fashion, art, music as means of expression to deal with their underlining issues. It makes them happy.

Gaga is now happy being Stefani. That's fulfilling that she's able to be so content and confident rather than her Fame insecure self.

Why some of her fans don't understand that confuses me. It's like they don't know her at all..

However, I respect the care and effort the author put into the review, and her personal opinion/score definitely is valid.
