Guys, that Pitchfork review was actually good. It's an opinion piece, and presents itself as so while being polite to Gaga and her music. A 6.9 from them is good, especially considering their obvious bias against people like Gaga, as in, rich white girls (Ariana is an exception, as they are obsessed with her).

the review was the best one so far - it did what people were saying needed to be done: place the album in the context of the artist's body of work, discuss the progress they've made/the pros of the album, and then discuss pitfalls of the album
specifically, I loved the criticism that the "stripped back, authentic, singer-songwriter" direction of the album doesn't really ring true coming from the person who made their name and had most of their creative success making deceptively simple pop music. like it's almost ironic but Gaga channeling unadorned authenticity is basically the least authentic thing she can do
