The album was released last, really all YG did was compile their double singles onto a disc. There were only two songs on the disc that hadn't been heard before the album was released

i think Red Velvet's next comeback is gonna be their true make it or break it. RR is gonna be their next million seller, so they NEED to keep it up from here. that means taking risks (because lets be real, RR works really good because of Red Velvet cause no other group could pull that off as they did). so if they decide to go a more darker route it could benefit them a whole bunch or keep it light but near RR/ICC/DD level. there's so many ways they can go from here & im so excited cause they deserve to be Global ****ing Popstars in my book

They're a bit of a special case bc they're a YG group. They can do that (hence both Whistle and Boombayah being successful).

My Type was a warmup single that got unexpected success.

Rhythm Ta and Airplane were the title tracks for the EP version of the album. Apology and Anthem came out like a month later to hold people over until the full album.

Dumb & Dumber and What's Wrong were the title tracks from the full album release.

so although they're all singles from one album, they were all sorta pushed separately as double singles. idk if I explained this well enough but yeah lol. This is probably what BLACKPINK will do too

well, NCT DREAM has been doing promo for almost 3 months now
but i agree with what KORDEI & the others said too.
the thing is, not every group can pull off double singles/more singles from the same album. only the ones that are HIGH up there can (BigBang, iKON, SNSD, maybe even EXO, etc) can really do that & probably.have succeeded. it's all based on how they handle each single tbh

Smaller companies are now pushing follow up singles, like Starship with Monsta X, only to sell albums more. I mean this year alone Monsta X sold 120k albums (from all 4 of their minis).

ROMEO doubled the sales of their last album.

Repackage is cute but seeing how BTS did it and gaining fans and album sales each time, I guess companies are now seeing the interest of having a second single. Just like a Pre-Release single can help pre-sales.
