Thank you! Yes, I'm quite new with Janet, I only listened to Control and The Velvet Rope so far... I really liked both but the latter blew me off! Any thoughts on what should I listen to next?
Rhythm Nation 1814 and janet. complete the "peak period" that you've heard in part with Control and Velvet Rope. Both were commercial behemoths - eight of Rhythm Nation's 12 songs were huge radio successes. And janet. is a lot warmer and more informed by R&B/hip-hop but it's a very eclectic effort, it's one of the great decadent superstar albums of the 80s/90s.

Okay, so does anyone know why No Sleep/Dammmn Baby flopped? Both videos are EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, sleek, trendy sounds that don't get old, and they aren't try hard. Is it just because of her age or are the GP THAT dumn?
Her performance at the AMAs 1990 of Escapade is one of the best performances!!
87 was her best AMA moment

No Sleeep wasn't a huge flop, it was an adult R&B radio hit, which is pretty much the best we could've expected given her age and the throwback vibe of the song. It seemed to help sell the album at least! DB, well, when's the last time she had a hit third single?

IKR? It's kind of a mess that it wasn't at least a gay club hit.

I love No Sleeep, I keep sending it to all my friends LMAO. they all stan it so i guess it's another hit that got away
Not Nothing for You TBH every song on the album is at least decent, it's really just the 4 sex songs in a row that ruin it! Cut it to 2 and put them near the end.
It was you people that made me hesitant about listening to the Damita Jo album. But the album really is an underrated great album! Island Life really stole it for me. She didn't really whisper on Sexhibition, and she's pretty consistent throughout the album. I just wish she put 'Truly' and 'The One Interlude' down right before Just a Little While. That woulda been perfect for closing the album.

It's a great album! Was in my T5 before Unbreakable snatched its long ugly wig.
