I'm sceptical, I absolutely adore Nintendo's game series but I've never been one for their gimmicks. I didn't like the Wii U's gamepad, the 3DS's 3D, or even the Wii's motion sensor. Hopefully this will be different, I'll buy it eventually anyway

All of the 3DS-only series will now have to make a switch. Pokemon SWITCH, Yokai Watch SWITCH, Animal Crossing SWITCH, etc. will be coming. I am SO interested to see how they will handle former dual-screen games, especially Yokai Watch.

And I'm not even surprised at the slay. The marketing for Wii U sucked (I'm a longtime Nintendo stan and thought it was a re-release), but the console itself was amazing. The only console that disappointed was the Game Cube and they made up for it with great games.

How is it complicated?

You dock it when you want to play on the TV. You take it out when you want to play on the go. The controller adapts to where and how you want to play.

Really hope this does well for them, I'll definitely be preordering when it's available. But it HAS to be a powerful console or they will once again lose 3rd party support and gamer support. This is their last chance imo, BUT so far so good!

Yeah I hope so too, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm positive this console will be strong but not super powerful. They don't seem particularly interested in competing with Sony/Microsoft on that aspect especially, and are more geared towards innovation in the industry, and quality of gameplay itself.
We'll see what happens, the new mario looks beautiful so far.

I'm genuinely excited to see how this goes. I don't particularly like the name but it's not "Wii" so I'm happy. The marketing is great too, the 'snapping' sound is going to be ICONIC, if they continue to stay away from marketing it as a children's console, it will appeal more to all ages.

My only concern is practicality and sturdiness. It's just asking for damage. There's too many parts, if you get what I mean but hey, I'll have to wait and see. The box should include the following contents imo:

Portable console
Console docking station (Potentially different storage sizes)
Portable console travel case (Like, if this isn't a thing I'll be disgusted...)
Normal (pro) gamepad (They need to change it a bit though, something about it is ugly)
Gamepad shell for the detachable controllers
