Utada has really exceeded all expectations. I wonder if her power can make female soloists a thing again or she'll just be another exception.
Unlikely that things will get better for others. As much as I like dragging the lessors, it's always more fun when other solo female artists are making good music and making a dent in sales, but utada is in her own lane as much as people try to group her with the others.
Takamina isn't doing better than Maeda in the end (debuted at no. 6 with less than 9k) and Happiness who in spite of the predictions debuted at no. 1 will still be outsold by Utada it seems.
