He wins tonight due to composure and the moderator not doing her fact checking leaving Kaine to act out and having to clock every time a lie was said. Kaine was interrupting but he came with substance and facts. Plus Mike Pence trying to turn over Roe vs Wade was not a good look for women. Kaine won that subject hands down.

THANK YOU! Finally somebody gets it. I was starting to think I was the only person who actually listened to what they were saying. Pence literally LIED 90% of the time and he kept saying trump didn't say anything that he actually said I really don't care if Kaine was "interrupting" but he was bringing out fact after fact in an extremely strategic way that left pence shook every time so all he did was laugh or roll his eyes. Snapshot polls might show that pence had the edge but like you said, let it bake in for a few days and people will start calling pence out.

Pence did good...cool, calm, and collective. He looked more Presidential than Donald Trump could ever hope to be.

Kaine looked goofy per usual...him attacking anybody is not a good look.

Yeah. He's black, young, earns $75k+ and has no college education, something like that. I think he's one of two people in the entire sample with those characteristics so he's weighted really high.

This is why I'm really glad we have a parliamentary system over here. When the most important election in a country focuses on electing one person, not a political party or government, you end up with egomaniacs like Trump going for it.

Lol the post debate spin is favoring the Clinton camp. All are saying DT was the looser last night because nobody defended him, Pence lied and Kaine's interruptions were annoying. I guess Kaine lost the fight last night but he has won the war. #ThatMexicanThing will be an add, Pence lying and being unable to defend DT will be an ad. It will be interesting for sure.

Totally agree. It really has only given Hillary more ammunition for the debate Sunday when I think about it. I can see it going something like this:

Trump will probably boast about winning the debate between the VPs (which no one will really care about by then anyway) and then Hillary will go after him by saying that Pence wouldn't even stand by his president's stances on issues key to their campaign and/or showed a complete lack of knowledge on what Trump has actually said.

I'm not sure how this will get into the Town Hall format but I bet Trump will slip it in as he's seeming pretty smug on Twitter about it lmao.

A new morning, a new day for polls to start raining down Hopefully we get a new batch with an October 3rd date. The tax story fell on the 2nd so by the 3rd the public will have completely absorbed it

It's quite indicative that people here are saying Pence looked more presidential considering that Pence seemed to position himself for a 2020 run rather than actually defend Trump.

Either way you don't win debates by looking more "composed". Stop using Trump's standards on other debates.

Pence failed to defend Trump, blundered several times when it came to women, ThoseMexicanThings, and immigration, and did not bring anything new to the table lying more times than Trump can count.

Kaine on the other hand showed the kind of aggressiveness expected of a VP as opposed to the complacent docileness exhibited by Pence. He also focused on the important issues that are in the balance RIGHT NOW namely the women's vote (which Pence lost hardcore) and the minority votes (which Pence also lost).

To sum it up, Kaine did his part as a VP for Hillary while Pence was all about Pence.

"Presence" requires two things: you've got to look and act the part but you've got to also have a brain there. Pence clearly left his in Indiana or on Trump's lap. Still trying to pinpoint it. Maybe it's with one of those fetuses he was burying a while back...
