Ok now can we talk about something that's been doing my head in during this entire tour?
WARNING LONG RANT
Can someone tell her to stop with the disappearing talk? Maybe blowing it way out of proportion is her way of dealing with the nostalgia of the closing of a tour she's seemed to very much enjoy, but it's been increasing every show, now she finished an otherwise nice run in NYC with "it's gonna be a long time".
In case she/the label is wondering, we don't want her gone for years on end. I don't feel more inclined to buy an Adele album after sitting through almost five years of tabloid rumors and radio silence. Furthermore, if she's living a "real" life, wouldn't that mean she may take a bit of time off to relax after the massive tour, and then working actively on her next album, particularly once her kid starts school? Wouldn't going to work like a "real" person, likely combined with new contractual obligations for music production and performance, yield the exact opposite of a long time away from new music and shows? I mean, maybe she plans to screw around for years with her massive paycheck from this era, which is fine, but I then feel it unfair for her to try to convince us every show of how important it is that she seemingly take another half a decade to live in a manner we would find relatable.
I don't want to underestimate a next album's potential should another long hiatus occur, but maybe the GP was more giving with almost five years of their time when she had a new baby and was coming off of the biggest, musically best era of the decade. I worry it would be different after she's come back with an album after all that that, while enjoyable, broke very little new ground, label did not effectively/effortfully promote any single beyond the lead, and now the kid's almost four. I mean, she did embark on a massive, incredible tour, that's the highlight of the era. But, bursting into tears worrying about such a tour not happening again at the O2, then getting booed for celebrating the idea of disappearing again in Oslo, now the new trend of the breaking America speech becoming her apologizing for leaving before and again but trying to persuade the audience of the validity of her choices... what even are her true feelings and just why does she think the era is improved by publicly setting a timer for its end as soon as it began?
Sorry for the long rant, I respect whatever she decides to do, but the reappearance of this exaggeratory talk, originally in the WWWY speech and now before SLY, which directly results in the hysterics of fans and the even more exaggeratory rumors from the tabloids, has just been bumming me out completely. We don't like it ending either, dude... and her talking about it like that ruins it for me. Just stop say your thank yous, you'll miss us, till next time etc but leave it there.

I agree CC. I know you and I have kinda talked about this a bit as we've seen some of those freaked out reactions on Twitter, but yeah.
I feel like as soon as she started the era she set a timer with the public of disappearing again. Literally at the first show in Belfast she was already joking about it being 50 years for her next one, and over time the talk's cycled between better and worse but as of late more serious and more of a downer overall. After every show at this point there's at least 50 people on our TL and in search bummed out about directly what she said last night about going away yet again, and then many more (more the GP folks) freaked out about the latest "10-years-off"-type rumor she's given the tabloids the ammunition to start. The talk can't be enjoyable for the concert experience of the audience, and the results of it isn't positive attention for her to be getting from everyone week after week.
You've pretty much laid out all the contractual/logistical issues of her taking another big break, but even more I just don't want that to become her schtick: the artist that is either a) disappeared for years on end or b) talking about disappearing for years on end. Like there's so much else to be known for, so much music to make, and shows and videos and like...everything. Really, the entertainment industry is her oyster, and we're all here now because we really enjoy and look forward to hearing and watching what she does with that. Like, I too respect her decisions, and I don't think any of us expect a new album every 3 seconds, but to get to the metaphorical top of the mountain that is seeing her live after a 5 year wait, only for it to be suggested right there by her in person that you have an equivalent peak to climb as soon as the night ends is just a bit crushing.

I think I took the break between 21 and 25 better than most of you, so knowing that I could go through it again may be why I'm not that troubled by her taking another long break (but now that I think of it, I was obsessively checking in on the official forums and ATRL for every little bit of information, so apparently I didn't take it that well ).
It is a little worrisome, but I think that she won't take a break as long as last time. 3 years at most. She seems excited about her work more than ever, and she doesn't have the overwhelming, creatively-paralyzing pressure to follow-up 21 anymore, so maybe that'll motivate her to release an album more quickly.
Or, at least we can hope...

You missed the point tho.
It's not the break & how long it's going to be because if you know Adele you don't expect an album every year. It's the way & when she adresses it.

Oh, well, I'm personally not troubled by that either, but I can definitely understand y'all.
I think she sometimes doesn't understand how much of an impact her words have. It may be because it's become routine of her to say the same things each show, so she's just use to it and doesn't really think twice about what she says.

Yeah I get that too it just ruins the vibe if the concert .. I know it did for me in Paris a little. You are happy you are seeing her and she feels the need to remind you she'll disappear. We know. You don't have to do it.

I know she never would, but you don't even have any idea how much I'd love her to be a coach on The Voice. She would be incredible.

Yeah. Like it very well could be (and hopefully is) shorter than 21 to 25. It just feels like she's the only artist that creates such a negative vibe around the time between eras to the point of being known for taking breaks as much as being back from them. I mean, many, many artists take a few years for each album, even seeming pop machine KP's next album will arrive over 3 years after Prism. But it's not an issue with them because they don't do this whole out of proportion warning thing. We say, 'oh I miss ______' and then time flies and they're back again.
Basically, the struggle when you're so desensitized to Adele's songs being sad from repeat listening that it's her talking about not making/singing them that gets you...

And yeah Adele would be boss on a show like that tbh. Maybe a one-episode guest spot as promo one day. I also dream of her hosting SNL.

I don't see why she needs to go away again for a long time anyways. I can understand not touring with the next album (and I agree it ruins the vibe of the show to mention that you're disappearing again) but musically? Why? You can't say it's a lack of inspiration because there's a lot of avenues and styles she hasn't explored with her music yet. Give us a Fleetwood Mac inspired album or an Elton John inspired album. Her voice and style works better when it's retro inspired. Plus no one else is making music like that in the mainstream.
She can easily work on another album while Angelo is in school. Create a recording studio in your home if you have to. I agree with CC that disappearing worked with this album but it won't work again. The next album won't be as successful, simply because everyone naturally declines after such massive success, but 25 was no 21 and going away for a long time has more potential to hurt her than help her this time around.
I also agree that while the tour has been amazing, the lack of effort behind the album after the first month was disappointing. It felt like the era ended after a month.
Rant over. Forgive me queen. I just can't stand these long disappearances. This is the prime of her career and it feels like such a waste to just spend half of it in hiding. Take these extended breaks when you're older.

I'd honestly love to see her have her own talk show someday when she's older. She's loved enough by the public to draw in viewers, she has the personality, and she has the connections for big name guests, etc.

she said her initial goal with attending BRIT school was to be an A&R rather than an artist, so yeah why not?
