Definitely in my Madonna Top Five. There's a sweetness with an edge to the song. I wish I could find this old 1994 Madonna message board. One of the users writes something like "when I heard the intro I worried Madonna has gone and made some ****** indie song on us, thank God the beats came in."

The first verse is definitely a little misleading - I don't think I had any idea where the song was going, but then the chorus comes along and it's like woo lordT a boP! I really like the 1-2 punch that is "Survival" --> "Secret". They go together so perfectly. Truly the perfect basis of what the album is all about.
p.s. I've always kinda hated her make-up on the Bedtime Stories cover. Hate the heavy, black eyes and blood red lipstick with an otherwise super soft aesthetic. Which I'm sure is the point - and is kinda a nod to "Human Nature", she can be whoever and do whatever, she can be sexy and sweet, or perhaps she was hinting at the future Hard Candy era - the juxtaposition of tough, and delicious.
