I have no issues accepting people not liking this song. You can't like every damn song coming out and that's fine. As long as people don't start being a bitch about others actually genuinely loving this song.
I don't know if you guys are joking about forcing themselves into liking it cause it sounds really dumb to me. Personally ....this song is just knocks, I'm talking BR level here. The MV might be actually one that stands the test of time because it's so clean from time references.

Someone on Reddit commented that this video strengthens their theory that the song is actually about the relationship with her fans. The "perfect illusion" that they love her and yet they criticize her to no end and abandon her when things get rough. In the video she's surrounded by fans one second, and the next completely alone.

Honestly, I wouldn't even worry. Applause's first few weeks were kind of tragic. (which is why so many people were so quick to call it a flop to begin with). But it picked up weeks later and got pretty strong. We'll see if it stands that test, until then this is a meh update.
