Dangerous Woman debuted at #17
Rise debuted at #25
Make Me debuted #42
etc.
But shes not an Ariana Grande sized supertar (unless youre implying she's tier C), Rise isnt a lead single and Gaga's not in her almost 20-year old career (unless youre implying shes on her way out too)
Future promo won't help PI. Calvin is doing well without promo (#3 on iTunes), The Chainsmokers have done well without promo (#1 on iTunes until recently) and James Arthur (a local UK act) has done zero promo except a couple of flop website interviews and he's currently #1 on iTunes. It's been playlisted by both Capital and Radio 1 but it's still falling on iTunes. Its debut will be its peak.
She should release something more UK friendly as a promotional single before Joanne comes out.

You all need to stop with this promo thing, it's really overrated.
Promo won't make (or break) a hit, unless you're a nobody. This would have done similar without those interviews, and it wouldn't have done very differently even with a performance.
A video could do wonders for it but it has to be FANTASTIC.
It's a good debut, but things aren't good promising for the future.
Every single from Ariana this era has outpeaked the last!
Side To Side is #5 on iTunes (#4 without Calvin's song), #6 on Spotify, and #4 on YouTube and making big increases all across the board. I think it's coming for top five next week!
Better than I expected considering it's a steaming pile of ****, the low quality production, her aggressively bad vocals, the lyrics.. It's a hot mess.
