it's the first episode. In most horror shows the protagonists only get suspicious in the pilot but this episode had an home invasion and Shelby already running into the ghosts in the end.
"Most horror shows"
This is probably the emptiest AHS premier ever.
I like the preview for the season, it's hyped me up a bit, and I like the ideas people are throwing around (but I think getting hopeful is stupid here, because this is what happened with Freak Show; everyone predicted the amazing things they thought were coming and we got ZILCH and it ended in disappointment), but the premier felt vacant and like a lot was missing.
We had such few characters to grasp, and even then, they weren't introduced spectacularly; I barely have a sense of who each of them ARE. Like, I know the names, and I know which actor is which, and I know there's the reenacted ones and the real ones, but they feel so bland and barely-there compared to the past premiers where we had characters that were so starkly defined right off of the bat. Maybe it leaves more room for future development or whatever, but it did feel kind of lackluster.
First premiere in a long time that's made me excited for the rest of the season!! They're finally going with less is more and not throwing everything and the kitchen sink in the first episode. Curious as to how they'll explain the colonial mystery stuff.
Huh this was actually good, at last they've gone back to like, trying to be horror. I was hoping for a countryside-y/hillbilly theme and I'm glad that seems like what we're getting (Honestly it's bizarre that we got **** like Coven/Freak Show/Hotel before this obvious direction).
I still stick with my theory that there will be multiple stories this season. In the teaser they say "My Roanoke Nightmare a true (or real)? American Horror Story
