Okay. This first episode just didn't exceed my expectations. There wasn't that much action despite raining teeth and the very end. But I'm optimistic that the following episodes will kick me off my seat as I saw a slight glimpse of Wes Bentley.
I'm not a fan of that documentary style. Wouldn't it had made much more sense if Sarah Paulson had told the story of Sarah Paulson and not let Lily Rabe do it? This way it looks like Lily Rabe will always remain a poor man's version of Sarah Paulson and never trusted enough to become a lead in following seasons. Same with Cuba and Angela. Also it might confuse the viewers who are not familiar with the AHS faces.
Now the acting... Sarah did an awesome job as usual. I believe every thing she does on the show. Angela not coming off as sassy for once seemed like a nice change, although I'm not sure how her character will develope. Cuba is a solid actor - can't say anything bad about him for now. And Kathy Bates' freaky appearance caught my interest. I'm stoked how cruel her character this time will be.
As for other first episodes I officially declare 'Coven' and 'Hotel' to have the best first entrance. Though this was only like 40 minutes so I'm keeping my mouth shut at this point.
I'm still thrilled to see what's going on as I know nothing about Roanoake as a Non-American and hope to find out more as the story continues...
