Hmm, I disagree actually. I think casual listeners want to like her music, but its usually not their cup of tea. They are always here for her vocal performances because they know she's talented but whenever the songs come out they're far from what they expect from her.
Applause caught on and the demographic for the song was wider than many of her past hits.
