Well, a lot of the followers of the account (many of whom follow when they first sign up) are likely inactive. On top of that, there would be a significant proportion (in the millions) of those who haven't yet updated to see Insta stories. Then on top of that, it seems that it's already been removed - so she had a 7~ hour window [unless it's only me who can't see Instagram's story anymore]. Again subtract the number of people who didn't see the story during that period, and remember that a large proportion of the viewers would come from overseas markets. Once we've divided that all up, remember that even if half of the people that saw the story went to look it up - they likely then consumed Perfect Illusion via spotify, apple music, youtube, some other streaming service, pirating or by actually buying the music.
That's probably why it's difficult to see any large effect from it
Actually a new account doesn't automatically follow Instagram as far as I know, you must do it yourself. But with the rest of your post, I fully agree.
The photo got 550K likes, I assumed that at least 5-10M saw the photo. I wasn't expecting green updates, but I really didn't think the song would get red updates.
Hopefully Wednesday's promo is good and effective, but I think it's only radio interviews for now.
PI is such a good song, kinda wish it was a bit more rocky but it's really catchy I actually find it her 2nd best song of all time (well 3rd) but for singles Is Paparazzi then PI it's sooo good hope her album is really good and gives us that Pop/rock tease but most likely it probably be a dance album.

He has 0 bias or hate towards Gaga or any other pop girls.
I'd choose to believe his judgement on songs over some twinks on ATRL any day.
His taste in music may be similar, but that doesn't automatically mean he will always like what the GP likes. I can usually tell what will be a hit too, and I never predicted Closer or Cheap Thrills doing as well as they did. Chill out.

I love Gaga, I like PI, I like all the people she has worked with on this album and I can't wait for it to come out
but at least in this universe this song is not going to smash,
not going to have a slow-buring longevity, not going to have impact on the trend of music.

Pretty much everyone expected both songs to be huge hits though
PI will do just fine. It's already showing early signs. Very rarely do songs debut and immediate hit nowadays, regardless of who the artist is.
When you guys use your friends and family members as means to say that the "GP" doesn't like the song. Chill.
