I have to agree with Humoresque.
Starting from the beginning will seem like a Sisyphean task right now, and, you know, it really will be an undertaking, but it'll be worth it.
I didn't listen in chronological order. All told, I wish I had. It's much harder to appreciate and respect the importance of something that sounds like the Like A Virgin album,
par exemple, if you've just finished getting your life to Ray Of Light and Music.
You have to bear in mind that there isn't just one shining jewel in the pantheon of Madonna records. Not when they're (almost) all so wonderful. We all develop favourites, but every one of her albums feels essential to the bigger picture, and the best way to get any story in its entirety is always to start with that first chapter.
