just finished listening to 'Russian Roulette' mini (this is literally my third time already and i abrely started listening to it almost an hour ago lol) and while it's not better than The Red, it is still a great & organic sounding album.
the production is so laid back but also very present at the same time. but the true highlight are all of their vocals 110%. Wendy made sure to let y'all know she is SANGIN' all over this damn album, okay?! & also Joy's notes and the harmonies throughout, lord
especially on songs 'Bad Dracula' & 'My Dear' (both wonderful highlights).
one thing i also love about Red Velvet is that all their voices are so distinct, but also very similar when harmonizing so it just makes their sound so full & like a true group effort. this sound is unique for them & fits where their at in their career right now. like, these girls cant do no ****ing wrong & it's truly crazy but amazing
every song is a 10/10 but the one that truly has to grow on me is 'Sunny Afternoon'. its good but hasnt truly slayed me. Fool, Some Love, & My Dear tho... what kind of perfect 1-2-3 punch?
& the title track even sounds more amazing, ugh. this is by far their best full mini so far for me. like i said, it doesn't beat 'The Red' (cant barely compare them since that was a full album anyway) but it does a damn great job of standing on it's own and being a truly different but also very outstanding entry in their discography.
