Speaking of B&N, I must say that I was so impressed when I tried them for the first time a few months ago to purchase that exclusive blue vinyl variant of Gwen's latest. Fast shipping in a sturdy, strong cardboard mailer, and at a reasonable price to boot.

Made me wish I'd gone for their yellow version of The Desired Effect last year.

Me too! The fact I picked the cheapest shipping (which was only about $7/8, so really good for international) and received it with no damage is quite impressive. Definitely going to get their exclusives whenever possible.

I have an opposite experience. My order was being processed for three weeks until I contacted them and it arrived damaged.

No, I'm sorry to hear that, Cannes. What a disappointment. I hope you were at least offered a partial refund as compensation.

I got the cheapest shipping, too, Phunk. Couldn't believe how good it was, but now knowing that they certainly can mishandle things will be a blessing. Unless it's an exclusive, I'll probably try elsewhere first.

Well I wasn't offered anything because I didn't ask for it. Poor me. But speaking of refunds how does Amazon handle them? My record is warped and the sleeve is damaged a bit.

I've only ever asked Amazon for a refund once and it was when the teal version of 7/27 got announced the day the black version shipped. I requested a refund immediately saying that I wanted the teal one instead and they ended up saying "your order has been refunded, there is no need for you to return this item to us" so I ended up getting the black for free

You just ask them in an online chat. They're pretty understanding and will either get you a new one or refund your money.

Called UO yesterday because I had to change the shipping address on my Dangerous Woman pre-order
(for some reason they had to cancel the order completely & reorder it)
But with my cancellation email I was sent a 20% off + free shipping coupon that I was able to use when I reordered it so my total was $19.49 instead of the $31 something that my original order was

I second the idea of chatting with an agent / rep! I've just had a look on my phone to refresh my memory on how it's done, but it seems to be accessible on only the full desktop site.

Anyway, good luck to you once you've found it. They really are understanding at Amazon—always trying to go above and beyond in matters of customer satisfaction. I can't think of a company that better exemplifies that old "customer's always right" mantra.

has anyone from the US had success with pre-ordering something from Urban Outfitters and receiving it in the mail on the day of its release? I want to send ANTi to a friend and I hope to get it there on the 30th so that he doesn't go out and buy it himself. I already pre-ordered it on Amazon and had this all taken care of, but Urban Outfitters had to go all out with that white pressing, lol.

From what I've read, they're extremely unpredictable—few universal company rules as far as vinyl shipment is concerned. Your order could be sent in something as sturdy as a record mailer placed inside a larger box, or in what's basically as flimsy as just a mere glorified envelope. You may also be slapped with import duties, taxes, or other customs charges, so that's another thing to bear in mind.

If you need these titles, though, it could be worth it to go for them. After all, you'll always be able to try your luck with a complaint if the order gets mishandled.

I'm gonna go for the $60 shipping option since taxes/import duties are covered with that (and they'd probably be more than the $30 it's gonna cost me for UO to pre-pay them).

Hopefully that will mean better quality packaging
