I'm writing a paper on disability and its relation to Indigenous activism. I talk a lot about land settlement and how Toronto is actually a settler city. Its past is settler-colonial, but this past is ongoing for Indigenous folk. It's very informative for me to read about Indigenous experiences. It's a wealth of knowledge that turns into wisdom, which is good for sharing ideas and new messages with people.

I sometimes don't think enough about geography and how, in a way, I am constantly traveling...from Indigenous worlds to my own.

Just came back from my Europe trip, I loved it so much
I have family living in Como, Italy right in front of the lake
They also have a beach house in a part called Liguria, it was all so beautiful
Went to London with my cousin and then Amsterdam by myself.
This was honestly the best summer of my life

Just thought I'd stop by and say anyone planning a trip, do not let the media tell you what is safe and what isn't. If there's a place you really want to go, do research, hit up tripadvisor. Yes, keep up to date with current events, but if you allowed that to determine whether or not a country is safe for you to visit, wouldn't that make the US a dangerous country too?

When visiting big cities, have common sense and be mindful of your surroundings and you'll be fine.

I visited Egypt in the midst of it's political unrest and had no troubles at all. I had a great time!

Do you guys have any ideas for a nice winter break (end of Jan/early Feb)? I wanna go somewhere small, cold and covered with snow. I just wanna settle down and relax in a cottage or something. Somewhere similar to Interlaken, Switzerland. I rented a house there last year and it was wonderful, but, I feel like visiting a new place is a better idea. I don't want a large metropolitan nor do I wanna be moving a lot. Maybe just visit three or four other towns nearby.
I thought about Estonia but I'm not sure...

If you don't think you'd have a major problem navigating somewhere new and talking to strangers, DO IT!!

Worst that could happen? You don't have as amazing of a time as you thought... but you still got to go somewhere. Don't miss out on the experience!

Be prepared to spend a lot of money. When I was there I actually did run into people/employees who gave attitude to non-French speakers. You'll be fine, but learning basic words/phrases will help you. Every single person you see doing tricks on the street for money is a scam artist. I usually hate these, but I went on a hop-on hop-off bus that brought us to hidden gems that I would never have seen otherwise. If you're into it, the Palace of Versailles is worth the 30-40 minute train ride. And make sure you check both airports for the cheaper price!

While in Spain, you should go to Portugal if you have the chance! Cheap trip, and Lisbon and Oporto are amazing.

I don't think I'd have a problem with it tbh. I'm planning to go to Mexico City and every time I look at pictures/vlogs/etc I just wanna go more and more. It's so beautiful

I'll be out of school for 3 weeks with nothing to do and I don't wanna be stuck at home the whole time so why not?

I've never been to Europe but I've done tons of research and I think Portugal (Lisbon and/or Porto) would be worth adding. A few others place I see get mentioned a lot:

Munich
Salzburg
Greek Islands (Santorini)
Istanbul

Have fun though I'm jealous

Can anyone give me tips for what to do in Amsterdam, Berlin and Munich? Also going to other cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Copenhagen and Istanbul but I have a clearer idea what to do there as opposed to the aforementioned cities. Keep in mind it'll be December so middle of winter there.

You most likely wouldn't run into any issues tbh but it is kinda unpredictable

As long as you practice common safety measures you should be fine. You have a few months (I'm assuming) until your trip so you can always see how things change up until a few days/weeks before.

Finishing up my six-month stint in South America in a week, and heading back to Israel for my final holiday of the year at the end of September.

Wanted to do a side tour to Egypt to Cairo, but I had to go over the Sinai peninsula and my insurance company wouldn't cover me because the UK Government advises against all but essential travel due to the threat of kidnapping by ISIS

Guess I'll have to stay in the best country in the Middle East, no biggie :*
