Some of y'all are acting like TS downplaying Red after it didn't win AOTY to unnecessarily justify the loss and promote a later (as of yet nonexistent in this case) "happy" work by Adele to pander to such video honors
Adele brings the ratings and adds class. Flat out. She declined to come, MTV took it as her not giving a **** about them and their awards, so declined to give her awards that she didn't care enough to even sit in there for. They moved to what they saw as the next best thing for ratings, made it another complete Beyoncé-fest, shifting a lot of attention away from even Rihanna whom they were supposedly giving the biggest award of the night. The only true loss here imo is that SML would've benefitted from a performance, and I almost wonder if one was thought about then scrapped just because of her performing it with the video in the background most recently, but whatever.
Hello has the views (don't start with the "Formation is private"...it wasn't touching Hello regardless), the cinematography, the distinct look/resulting widespread recognition, the GP approval, the spread through parodies and memes, the broken records, the successful visual depiction of a single that also broke records... to reduce Hello now is almost to be insecure. Still a major contender at the Grammys (and RCMH at the Emmys), and by all means, the biggest song/video together and apart of this year and one of the biggest of all time.
Don't worry... Adele is above them. She's coming to slay the award shows that actually matter. I'm hoping that since the VMAs were clearly all about Bey, the Grammys are going to be all about Adele.
