Don't sleep on the Circus era. She had top notch promo.
Had VMA's sweep
She did promo performance in Germany, UK, and France for Womanizer
Womanizer went #1 on Pop and BB100
Womanizer had great radio success and Circus picked up right where it left off as well
Premiered Womanizer video on prime time tv following 20/20, which had a high viewing
How I Met Your Mother appearance
Multiple radio interviews
Rolling Stone cover
Christmas Tree lightening appearances in NY and LA
For The Record documentary (MTV promoted the crap out of this)
Paps were following her every move, thus meaning, she was in the news EVERY DAY
GMA performance and interview
Birthday Album Release Party
And so on. Circus would've been a phenomenal era had it not been so front-loaded in promo. After the album, she went straight to rehearsing for the Circus tour and then a few months later, was touring the world. She skipped the Grammy's, AMA's, and other award shows, but did a video acceptance for her Womanizer award at the VMA's in '09. The album could've sold 5 - 6 million with more promo, but 4.5 million is still good. She was cringe-worthy in her interviews this era, but for obvious reasons. Britney was literally months removed from her breakdown, doing a full out era launch.
