Why are you still here? You really have nothing else to do right now or for the past three hours? Yikes.

sexpot isn't a negative term. it just means a sexy person.
There was no sexism in the NYT review. Disappointment over the album running a single theme into the ground =/= **** shaming.

Edit: also, did some of you people not even read the NYT review? The mindless stans are saying it's dumb and not credible because it's sexist(? What? No, it's not), but he received the stupid "themes" of the album as well as the basic production/sound and overly processed vocals. It's not his review, it's the album. Did you want him to lie and say it was good? Mess

Can't evolve, can't show any type of emotion, stale lyrics, by-the-books production, laughable delivery, and above all else a terrible album cover (can't even look sexy anymore ). The biggest clown in pop music besides Lady Gaga.

Not a review, but an editorial feature. Doesn't count
They label their reviews as such in the link/articles section

Yes, BG counts, but I said that particular article is a feature not a review. They label them differently, and only the latter counts for MC

And you are offended by my critique regarding his looks?
Yes, let's definitely get that GUY to review a Britney album and provide fair and constructive criticisms

You honestly don't believe this do you? Are you a woman yourself? If not, you absolutely have no room to talk. Try calling a woman a sexpot in her face and let's see if she finds it cute
--------------------
That review is pure BS and I've harshly criticized Britney so many times but she absolutely did NOT deserve this review. This album is GLORIOUS and INSPIRED and deserves all the love and praise it gets

"...experimenting in the softer edges of R&B and subtle pop stylings, Glory sounds like the product of a confident 34 year old woman in control of her own sound and destiny, rather than the fit mother of two trying to show the kids she’s still down with the youth."

Go look up Urban Dictionary to see what that reviewer REALLY means when calling Britney that.

Are you really using Urban Dictionary to negate Merriam-Webster as a proper point of reference? I don't have a dog in this fight, but whew honey...quit now.

Wow @ Artemisia, Lyrical, Pika, suburbannature, liberalmusiclover, etc. not being able to respond to this post, either
We're "delusional" yet you're the ones hiding behind an article that didn't critique the music in any way, shape nor form Keep trying, girls!

Riiiight. Goodbye! I don't understand these Bey stans and their insecurities. If "Lemonade" was so great, why stay perched on this thread? Is Glory that much of a threat? Or is it because you know that without the critical bias against Britney she would be getting so much praise?

"Unlike Will.i.am, the producer who filled Ms. Spears’s 2013 album “Britney Jean” with club-music clichés, her new collaborators make musical space for her. They look toward the melting tones, echoey hollows and vocal-sample constructions of recent releases by Ms. Gomez and Justin Bieber. Heavy bass lines and kick drums are all but banished, perhaps to return in remixes. Instead, syncopations are sketched in the midrange by handclaps, keyboard chords, electronic plinks or bits of guitar. The album’s peppiest song, “What You Need,” matches a track that sounds like foot-stamping, freeze-dried Motown to a vocal that flaunts its electronic warbles."
"Yet even with her voice upfront, Ms. Spears isn’t singing anything particularly personal."
"Ms. Spears, with turbulent decades of experience, might connect her life with her songs, as divas do, and find herself forging a stronger bond with listeners. But “Glory” doesn’t make that reach. It’s as if, after all her fans and fame, Ms. Spears can still only present herself as that most generic pop commodity: a sexpot." (Lyrically one-dimensional and using sex to sell rather than as a message of some sort).

I mentioned two things in my initial post in this thread: 1) Artemesia's interpretation of the word "sexpot" was indeed correct and 2) I found this thread amusing; anything aside from those two points are product of your own preconceptions and projecting as nothing further was stated or even implied.

Hm.
Good thing I just sent this the Globe about their filing mistake:
Quote:
Hello there--
I hope this doesn't sound as wildly unnecessary as it probably will, but for some unknown reason Maura Johnston's wonderful review of Britney Spears' new album (http://bit.ly/2bHMQFJ) doesn't seem to be filed as such on your site, and thusly will not be eligible to be counted on Metacritic. This is, of course, despite the fact that said piece is most certainly/obviously a--all together now!--review.
A lifelong fan of Britney, I certainly hope whoever edits the Music section will please, please make the quick edit behind the scenes so that it is filed with the rest of the Album Reviews and thusly submitted toward her MC score. It'd make me/a LOT (this can't be understated) of other fans incredibly happy.
Thanks so much!
Warmly,
Kelley

Thanks for the heads up, sis!
