The only religious clothing banned nationwide is the burqa. I don't think anyone would wear the burqa other than for Islam, although I do see how it could be an effective sun protection. Burkinis is banned, only in some cities, and well I don't think any woman would wear it for anything else than Islam.

Actually, banning religious attire violates the principles of a secular society. Being secular means being neutral on matters of religion (neither promoting nor prohibiting a religion/religious practice). It's supposed to be the middle ground between theocracy and state atheism. Thank you for proving my point. Reactionary cowards are responding to terrorism by banning things they "think" are symbols of extremism and terror instead of actually informing themselves and doing something productive that would actually help reduce extremism and terror.

More concern are raised about this type of clothing because of terrorism, yes. They're not banning it to stop terrorism, authorities are being less convienent with our secularism because of terrorism.
