Seven male Supreme Court justices voted to legalize abortion in Roe v Wade. If those male judges didn't have an opinion on abortion and had abstained from voting (along with the countless other male legislators who have voted in favour of abortion rights) than it would still be illegal. Since when are people not allowed to have opinions on things just because they don't effect them? Are women not allowed to have an opinion on circumcision? Are straight people not allowed to have an opinion on gay rights?

I personally feel you should only get an abortion during your 1st trimester with the consent of BOTH PARENTS. Exceptions are illnesses and urgent threats to a woman's body.

But my personal view is just that which is why Roe v Wade should be enforced to the fullest.

That's true in life and definitely true in this thread.

It's just a very uncompassionate view to have, hence why it's generally a Republican view.

Pro-choice =/= okay with abortions.

I'm not okay with killing babies, but it still isn't the governments place to dictate a woman's life and body. It's also safe because you can't enforce a ban so better with a professional than somewhere unsafe.

I wouldn't want to go through it myself, and I would like it if the father would have a choice in the matter (but that opens another can of worms, like the possibility of a rapist forcing his victim to carry the baby to term), it's not my place to tell someone what they can do.

At the very minimum, abortions should be allowed in cases of rape, incest, and major threats to either the baby's or the mother's life, or both.

The "some people can't have children" argument is so dumb. It's nature. It's nobody's fault. Most of women who abort don't feel happy doing it you know. And now you wanna blame them because there are people who can't reproduce.

Um. a life is timeless for me. Adoption can be handled by the time the baby is birthed.

I think a child placed in a happy home will have to deal with the fact that their mother wasn't ready to care for him/her. I also think an adopted kid should have enough sense to know that their live was valued and not aborted for that reason.

The mother shouldn't have to say because she couldn't abort...she should say that I valued your life and new that there were adults that could nurture, raise, support and take care of you.

My point was not to make women that are irresponsible to feel bad for those that can't get pregnant...moreso, the women that can't get pregnant often adopt and that child could be their adopted son/daughter.


But as I said, I can't tell a women what to do but I am pro life with exceptions. that's always going to be my stance because I value healthy life.

I know 2 girls that got abortions (1 in high school/1 in college)
I don't look at them different. I just disagree.

Despite the obvious heavy-handedness of that video, I actually am pro-choice, and I believe that it would actually be a great progress in society when we devalue the "lives" of fetuses. A fetus is not a person. It has POTENTIAL to become a person, but so does an unfertilized egg, which women flush down the toilet once a month.

Why do you care so much about a clump of cells in someone else's body? It's not a person, it doesn't have feelings, it doesn't even know what's happening if it's terminated. There is no consciousness there. People really need to learn to separate the emotional gut-feeling that we should empathize for the unborn from logical thinking, which tells us that if a woman isn't ready to have a child, an abortion is obviously the best choice and doesn't cause real harm to anyone.

Am VERY much pro-choice, and very much pro-abortion. If you know you are unfit to raise a child with a decent quality of life and opportunity, contraception & abortion when it is not yet a fully developed life >>> bringing it into this world and often damning it to a life of difficulty, rejection, poverty, and abuse, just because you are self righteous on the topic of abortion (but not irresponsibly opening your legs, often without protection, when you KNEW you didn't have the resources to care for a child).

Obviously the above rant only applies to consensual pregnancies -- my support for abortion is even more emphatic for women who've been raped.

Agreed. I wouldn't go so far as to paint them a horrible person through and through, but it's a horrible view to have -- as is pretty much any blanket ban on something which doesn't harm others.

Against it, unless the woman is a victim of rape or has to abort the baby due to life-threatening complications.

Matter of fact, I would say I'm more split on the topic. I don't agree with it but I also don't think the government should have a say in what a woman does with her body. Ultimately, it's her choice. But it does become very disconcerting when you see and hear about women having multiple abortions all the while taking no measures to prevent pregnancy.
