See, **** like this is very ignorant. Michael and Janet share the same blood. They are brother and sister. But Michael had no bearing on Janet becoming the legend she is today. Janet was an ACTRESS first before she became a POP LEGEND. Once "Control" was released and there on, she was seen on his level as a performer and musician. And he begged her to be on the "Scream" track. Michael didn't help Janet achieve her multiplatinum hit albums, singles, videos, etc. It was all Janet. And if you're going by that ******** logic, then all of his siblings would have been successful(as solo artists).
And judging by who's in your sig, you're the last person to say anything.

Michael had been sporting the military style since Thriller, most famously with the blue and red jackets at the grammys and AMA's.

None of this is true.
And chart wise, Janet was a bigger force than him.

yes very, like, who cares about how many consecutive top 20 singles she has? they're all forgotten in the US and unknown outside of it. btw, it was like 3 decades ago. it's not relevant, it's hardly a huge/significant accomplishment.

Also this is a myth, Control is at 14,000,000 worldwide with only 5x Platinum certifications from the US. Rhythm Nation at 20,000,000 worldwide with only 6x Platinum certifications from the US. Same numbers for janet. and The Velvet Rope did decently outside the US too.

The inflation Rythm nation did not sell 20 million

Celine, yes. Britney, no. And Janet bested both of them on Billboard's Anniversary chart. All inclusive, Janet's stats are more impressive than Celine and Britney's.

Unfortunately this! I didn't know about Janet before ATRL, and I am getting into her discography. It's really unfortunate that her legacy didn't pass the test of time because she is such a talented artist

Madonna only has 17 and Janet's streak stared just as Madonnas ended so....

Yes, very overrated.
Pretty sure she doesn't have any impact outside the US and doesn't have a single classic or recognizable song.
Most people here have never even heard of her (me included, before joining atrl) so yea.

It is significant considering none of her contemporaries were able to do it. And you all say this and that isn't significant, yet brag about Vevo certified videos and Spotify streams as if that matters. Bye.

As if every Michael album isn't inflated to the gods. Let's not.

No, but she did pave the way for them. You can just look at their work and see that. Especially with Britney.

Kiii.. The "Scream" video can attest to that.
Yall can throw Michael in the mix all you want, but Janet's accomplishments, impact, and influence will never go away. Nothing ATRL or anyone can do about it.
She's your faves fave. Your fave will bow down like they are suppose to in her presence.

In an interview with Michael Jackson, he said that Janet called to ask if she could use the military-style dance she saw in Michael's short film Captain EO in her video for this song. Michael refused at first since he wanted to do a video with all the dances in military style, but he eventually let Janet use it.

Actually Britney has outsold her by almost 10 million, isn't Janet's album sales around 70 million while Britney has passed the 80 million mark?

Britney claims Madonna is her influence yet I don't see anything Madonna related in Britney's discography only thing they have in common is their love for bleach blonde hair that ages them badly and the LGBT community

This is actually very true. Here in the UK, if you ask someone to name a Janet Jackson song, 9 out of 10 people won't be able to. Those that do will probably name Rhythm Nation, probably her most recognisable song internationally if there is one.
I, personally, know a lot of JJ songs, because I'm actually a fan believe it or not.
