Why has the Hot 100 been weak in August for the past few years? Rude, Cheerleader and Cheap Thrills all got to #1 or had an extended stay at #1 because of a lack of competition.
How big of a hit is Needed Me in the USA? i mean, without having in count the charts. People know about it? Is it referenced by the gp? I want to know
In my area people really seem to like it. Whenever it comes on the radio people know it. I hear it on a lot of snapchat stories too. It doesn't feel as big as TIWYCF (Which felt like the #1 song for a few weeks) but I'd say it's pretty big

Cheerleader was a hit in June and was playing hot potato with The Hills for that top spot...not to mention it was a massive hit everywhere (same for Cheap Thrills)
I wouldn't say August is weak...it's just that the summer is ending and the big summer hits have peaked by this time

The Hills didn't reach #1 until late September. Cheerleader was blocked by SYA until mid-July.

Absolutely huge. Rih is a "cool girl" to like & obsess over in the US. She's the perfect mix of urban music & pop appeal that everyone in my age group (14-21) love her. This is no different for Needed Me. It basically selected itself as a single bc of good performance on iTunes (like Sex w Me is doing.) Everyone knows this song & references it a LOT. Definitely feels larger than its peak.

Blah
Cheap Thrills is , #1* because it's the most popular song on all metrics combined.

It's not weak it pushed Drake down
What? It is weak. 330 Points for number 1? JT was above 400 for months and stuck at number 2, It's a weak time so yeah she's number 1 which is good enough of course but he's right.
Cheap Thrills is not top10 on Spotify, selling 62k on iTunes, not top20 on Youtube US. It just has massive airplay.
Drake had already spent 10 weeks at #1, so pushing it down was not something remarkable (it has no video).
The week Cold Water gets the video it's easily going #1, Closer would be already if airplay gap wasn't that big.
I wonder whether ANTI will have another single or not. The bitch doesn't seem like she care anymore.
At least send Sex With Me and LOTB to radio and then I'm ok with that even she let it perform on their own.
I don't "think" SWM will be a single as it is a bonus track on the album, and as good as LOTB is as a song it's too stodgy for radio. I do think Same Ole Mistakes could smash if it had a feature...like Kendrick Lamar or The Weeknd. But that ain't gonna happen either.

Sia deserves her success...CT is more of an old school #1...it may be the last of it's kind in this streaming era.
