The media talks about people are interested in. Johnson is getting more airtime because he is getting traction, but they won't give him as much airtime as Clinton/Trump because he's only polling ~10%.
Also I think you should be happy the media is just lightly talking about him, and not debunking what the Party actually stands for, what their core supporters seen at the convention are in favor of. People who only support the Libertarian ticket as a protestation vote might reconsider.
I would compare it to how Bernie was treated by the media (to a lesser extend). Not talked about that much, but almost no negativity when they talk about it.
unless in NC they are referring to a actual "voting ID" is that why it's a big deal?
here in FL a ID is $25 and no one complains on Election Day
