It being #1 won't do anything much but for the sake of it being "#1"
It might seem like Need You Now isn't that of a huge hit, but:

1) It has sold over 3,000,000 million copies.
2) Huge Radio hit.
3) Great album promotion, that's why the album sold a lot
4) It's has longetivity, It has been in the charts for 29 weeks now and yet, still in the Top THREE!!!.
5) Made Lady Antebellum a lot of money.

This song doesn't need to be #1 anymore. I bet the Label doesn't really care whether it's gonna be #1 or not, after what it have achieved so far.

yeah but with the force of pop radio and the upcoming acm, i think it can do miracles of getting that #1 (tho acm is still 6 weeks away)

How is his statement irrelevant? I don't think so, it is all a matter of personal opinion. Mixi and Ashley Tisdale on the other hand have never had any form of relevance. Also, Rihanna has not been dominating the charts recently, Rude Boy is sort of like a resurgence of popularity for her. If you were following the charts recently then you would now that.
