SM promoted Wendy, Seulgi, Irene and Yeri before RV was even formed. Wendy had an OST, Seulgi sang on Henry's album and Irene appeared in MVs and Yeri was also revealed as an SM Rookie a while before their debut.
Only Joy was unknown before their debut so let's not act like they were unplanned.

Welp YG did too, Rose and Jennie were feautered on GD's album in 2012, Jennie even was in one of his videos and performed at Inkigayo, Jisoo's been doing a lot of CF,drama part and other cameos in Yg act videos, Lisa was face of his clothing line, so we kinda knew the members 4 years before debut, we just didn't know which ones will be in the group, and they already had a color in their group name, so the RV stans can stop with the "they copied their name from Red Velvet 1!111!!!
