I'm under the impression from our TV Ratings thread that Gossip Girl is actually a failing show with about 400k viewers on average..... http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?p=3535539#3535539
Plus they only played about 25 seconds of BR.
I'm not arguing about it any longer it's not that important

Like Celestial said,
Gossip Girl is also a word of mouth show, and also gets a lot of media coverage. GaGa was promoted to be performing on it for a long time prior to the actual show.
The fact that they only showed parts of it, means nothing.

That's what the purpose of promoting songs on television series means. To play a piece of it, to expose, for people to go explore it. But they play the song throughout that scene also.
And, you should study a little bit more.

TV shows like this go from Fall to Spring seasons. It's currently on season break since December, and is returning this upcoming Monday. The ratings you see are repeat episodes prepping for the season return, and are really good for repeat episodes.
Fact remains, the song was moving slow after the video. GG gave it that final boost.
