Not to test the mod lords but why is that rule implemented to begin with? Wouldn't video game threads that require usernames, etc. be the same thing? Kind loop-y imo.

Not really. The basic logic is that you have the resources at your disposal on ATRL to do pretty much everything offline chats offer, with some additional concerns that have caused us to ban video chat discussion. With video games, there's obviously an essential component we don't provide or take any responsibility for. There's more but this is the easiest way for me to explain.
