The only thing that ever got tough for me, personally, was targeted harassment.
Oversharing Stuff I Expect Nobody to Actually Care About
I joined ATRL to have a great community to talk about pop music and pop culture since it was one of my favorite things. Pretty early on I knew I wanted to be very involved in the ATRL community, I loved it here - I became one of the most prominent Gaga fans, ran her Base thread, and within a year and a half became a moderator. It was a combination of that Gaga stanning and being a very social, active moderator that caused some of the more concerning harassment, and now it comes more from certain Gaga fans (who are now permabanned) for reasons I honestly can't discern. So you can imagine that, for a seventeen year old who was one of the youngest moderators ever and who was excited to have the role, that all got pretty ******.
But! I've long since matured more than enough to handle all this without stress and without concern. I feel like the community around ATRL lowkey grew to hate me because I became a lot more bitchy for a while in a sort of reflexive response to the aforementioned stuff, but lately I'm totes back in my groove and nice and stuff. It really feels like this place is a second home again and a lot of members have expressed their liking for me, which has been great.
That's just my personal experience, figured I'd share it since you mentioned possible stress.

Right now, and most of the time I've spent as an active moderator, it's been great because it allows me to be a bigger part of a community I love.
