The thing I don't like about the Kaine selection, though, is that once again they feel the need to capitulate to blue collar whites. When will Democrats learn to stop chasing these voters and work on consolidating the voters they already have?

Perez is the best choice to me, personally. Sherrod Brown would be the ultimate homerun but with the Senate at stake no bueno.

Yes it is. A record number of democrats identify as liberal or very liberal and in any other primary, Bernie would have never gotten as many votes as he did. Also let's look at the overwhelming amount of millennial support Bernie got.

We are in a new era of politics and people like you and Clinton still haven't realized it. Tim Kaine is a donor pick, it's as simple as that. Who will bring in the most money? But she's ultimately ignoring the voters and the base of the party, who are already still not sold on her.

I actually don't think it'll cost her, at least because of Trump. She'll get the progressive vote regardless. HOWEVER if she doesn't act in these principles and come 2020 (if she wins this year which she should) and the republicans pick a better candidate she'll be in deep trouble if she can't get her own constituency to vote her

I keep hearing about this new era, but Bernie still lost. Period. He got a lot of votes, but still lost by 15%. Ultra liberals don't make up most of the party and can't expect to dictate its terms.

I have my own reasons for not wanting Kaine, but THE BIG BANKS doesn't even register for me. He's not pro-choice enough.

I mean I don't care about big banks at all personally. But Hillary does (well she says so) but then picks him so either she's lying or she doesn't truly care about what she said in the primaries

I will agree with you on one thing, Dems need to stop chasing working class whites and work on consolidating their existing voters. Tim Kaine screams "chasing blue collar whites." He is not necessary to win Virginia, she will win Virginia anyway.

What's done is done no reason for me to be mad at her for her decision. Clearly she vetted out all of her options and thought he was the best option. Obama and Clinton (that other one) thought Kaine was the best too. Poor Biden

This is what my concern is. The people who were going to vote for her already were going to vote for her regardless. She needs to woo the people who were on the fence or flat out against her. These people include the progressives and millennials, two groups she consistently struggles with. My concern isn't that they will vote against her but that they won't vote at all. A Clinton/Kaine ticket does not energize any base and it just more of the same.

I can warm to Kaine, he seems like a nice guy and obviously is very experienced. I'd be excited to see him debate Mike Pence, since it sounds like Tim was the more successful Governor.
