Because IT IS an Ed Sheeran song - just like Love Yourself. The difference is that Bieber didn't put fake writing credits in this one.

Yeah, Ed is the #1 male artist right now - just like Adele is the female one. No one sells like her but Ed should be reaching 9 million copies of X this year and that's impressive considering the market. His longevity is insane in every country.

I think ES3 will be bigger because he seems to be more focused on pop singles right now.

Please stop acting like Justin doesn't constantly give Ed credit
Every time he tweeted or spoke about Love Yourself he mentioned and thanked Ed. And Justin did co-write that song. Not sure if he co-wrote Cold Water but either way he and Scooter have been constantly giving Ed credit. If your hatred of Justin is getting in the way of seeing what's actually going on that's your problem.
