Trump has energized his base. Those "angry, white men" people keep talking about will come out in record numbers for him, mark my words. Clinton, on the other hand, has not energized the democratic base and picking Tim Kaine is not going to do that.

There is going to be backlash over her choice tomorrow. Is that really what she wants after her poll numbers have dipped? A lot of the base are going to feel betrayed by her pick of Kaine or even someone like Vilsack. She clearly learned nothing from the primary.

I sort of am rooting for Booker in these final hours, but I'm more than satisfied with Kaine as the pick. He has a Democratic Governor to replace his Senate seat. He speaks fluent Spanish. Has experience on state and federal government levels as a former Governor and current US Senator. Served on Armed Forces Committee along with the Foreign Relations and Budget Committee as well. He has a solid record to go off of. I just want a great VP who will get the job done.

I just saw an interview on MSNBC of a Trump supporter practically in tears about there being no jobs. I felt so bad for her. This is what's driving Trump. His base is ready to go out and vote. Media wants to say otherwise but they've been clueless this whole election.

The Vice-President is not the end-all to a campaign. Trump in himself is a motivating factor to get people to the polls to vote against him. They already made schedules and plans for people like Elizabeth Warren on the campaign trail as surrogates, just like others during the primaries, where they go out to campaign on Hillary's behalf. Plenty will motivate people to vote: Trump, Obama's legacy, SCOTUS picks, Equal Pay, College debt, and so on. Kaine is a Spanish speaker and will be immediately doing Spanish-led interviews with key production companies likes Univision and Telemundo, broadcasting to millions of Spanish speaking Americans in Florida, Texas, Nevada, Colorado, California, New Mexico, Arizona, and so on. Every candidate has their pros and cons, Tim just has more pros that he brings to the table with his intangibles.

It's really the only voice "they" have in this race, even if he has no idea what he's doing and that they're basically voting for Mike Pence (who will make their lives worse).

I really want Booker, but the Senate is her main concern. It just so happens that all the best options are from battleground states. Watch it be Perez tho. I hope he comes thru.

he was very firmly against gays adopting with the excuse that that right should only belong to married couples. Then backtracked because of the gays rights to marry across the states

I honestly tried to give Kaine a chance to woo me, but I think he will hurt her in the long road. The article Mike91 posted explains it really well. In a nutshell, Kaine is going to highlight the Hillary's own weaknesses during this time of American politics. She doesn't need a centrist. She needs someone exciting and someone that will make people think Hillary is not bought by big money and Kaine would destroy any chance of people being convinced otherwise.

I also would love to see a VP that isn't a yes-person. I want someone that will challenge her and not let her off the hook from keeping to her campaign promises.

!!!! People are making this Vice President selection thing out to be more than what it really needs to be be. She trusts and respects him; not to mention, he's ready for the position on day one. Sounds good to me.

And now he supports it despite his religious views, right? He also put his faith to the side and openly supported abortion. Hillary, Bernie, Obama, and so on all have had reservations of homosexuality, but have changed their views. Tim Kaine, should be treated no differently. I rather he be accepting and open-minded than be solidly against.

Right. However misguided their thinking is (Trump will do nothing to help them, he barely knows anything about economics) I can see where they're coming from.
What have Democrats done about unemployment? Black Americans are doing so badly especially (esp under a black president, but we gave him a pass for some reason)
